February 2022 Trestle Board
Brethren,
I hope you have had a peaceful and enjoyable start to 2022! While the disruption of the Covid pandemic continues to interfere with daily life, we continue to put our trust in God and forge forward with our Masonic duties.
In that vein, I am pleased to report that we have a couple of petitions for a second reading at our February Stated Communication as well as one or two affiliations! This will lead us into our first EA degrees of the year for which we will continue to practice regularly. I am at the Lodge every Monday evening by 7 P.M. for practice or meetings, so please feel free to join me even if it is just to meet and say “Hello”.
We have one candidate who will be making his EA return soon and, all being well, receiving the FellowCraft Degree in the near future. More practice opportunities!
On the charitable front, the Lodge is sponsoring the Caroline County Polar Bear Plunge which is to be held at Lake Land d’Or on Saturday February 12th. There will be three groups plunging with the first group “going in” at 10 a.m. “The event Master of ceremonies will be “Captain Cold” a well known member of the local community. Some of our members will be participating in the plunge. The event raises a lot of money for non-profit organizations in Caroline County with last year’s proceeds exceeding. $28,000! All funds raised stay in the County. A minimum donation of $25 is required to plunge and entry packets are available at the YMCA. You are welcome to attend without “plunging”.
Caroline YMCA Community day is this Saturday February 5th from7am to 2pm If you have the opportunity, check it out.
As mentioned in last month’s Trestleboard, we continue to look for new opportunities to be of service to our local community so if you know of anything then please let me know either by emailing me at rjfishersr@gmail.com or master@carolinemasons.org or by phone at (540) 455-3813.
March brings us the Grand Master’s visit to the 8th Masonic District on Saturday 12th at 6PM at the Bowling Green Town Hall. We look forward to welcoming Most Worshipful James Winfield Golladay, Jr. to Bowling Green. The Secretary has tickets for this event which are only $20 each. I can recommend it!
Our March Stated Communication on the 14th will feature the Official Visit of our District Deputy Grand Master, Right Worshipful Dennis Wayne Berry. RW Berry was Master of Fredericksburg #4 in 1986. I am looking forward to welcoming him to our Lodge.
Finally, our next meeting is on Monday, February 14th also known as St. Valentine’s Day. I hope that our family bonds are strong enough that you will still be able to attend Lodge! As mentioned above we will be voting on a couple of applications, an affiliation or two and our Nomination for DDGM for 2024!
I promise to keep the meeting as short as possible. Please try to attend if it is within the length of your cable-tow! Dinner, prepared by the ladies of the Eastern Star, will commence at 6:30pm with the meeting starting at 7:30pm.
Fraternally,
Richard J. Fisher
Worshipful Master
