A Message From The East
Last month we continued to see growth in our lodge through the initiation of 2 new Entered Apprentices and the returning of an EA catechism by Brother Anthony Prothero. Congratulations to newest brothers Michael Beale and Michael Ulrey! We are planning a Fellowcraft Degree with a date to-be-determined. Thank you all to those who continue to support our labor and our lodge with their time, their resources, and their immense Masonic knowledge.
This month we celebrate the feast of St. John the Baptist. This day occurs each year 6 months before Christmas just as the ministry of St. John the Baptist occurred before the ministry of Jesus Christ. As Masons, St. John’s ministry resonates with the labor we accept as practitioners of the craft. Many regarded St. John as a spectacle for his lifestyle and his prophecies of a coming savior. As masons, we live the tenets of friendship, virtue, and brotherly love; all characteristics lacking in today’s society. It is a spectacle how Masons could meet each other on the battlefield as enemies yet still exercise compassion in the face of death. It is “strange” that men from such diverse backgrounds, socio-economic statuses, and stations in the community would still meet as equals and call each other brother.
Let this time be one that reminds us what it truly means to call ourselves “Masons” and how we can better exemplify those cardinal virtues that bind us together as a fraternity of brothers.
Just us this month for our Stated Communication where we will host Reverend Bambi Willis, Rector of St. Asaph’s Episcopal Chapel for a talk on St. John’s Day. We will also host Wor. Jeff VanCuren from Fredericksburg No. 4 who will present a program on the National Sojourners.

Visitation with Welcome Lodge No. 125 F&AM (PH): I plan on visiting Welcome Lodge this month at their Stated Communication on the fourth Friday (June 26th).
