Brethren,

And so, the second half of the year is upon us already!

June was a great month for us! We initiated a new brother on the 6th and passed two to the Degree of Fellow Craft on the 27th. We also had the first reading of another petition at our Stated Communication so we are continuing to grow and bring in new blood!
.
The Stated was a very enjoyable event. We had the privilege of being joined by three Past Masters from 1986 that night! The program was given by Worshipful Brother Michael Joyner from Richmond Randolph #19. For his visit, he was accompanied by Right Worshipful Don Cunningham and Worshipful Brothers TC Chau and Donald Traser. Also in attendance was our own District Deputy, Right Worshipful Dennis Berry. RW Cunningham presented the Lodge with a print of the Holy Saints John standing either side of a circle between two parallel lines and a book of Constitutions! WB Traser has invested many, many hours into compiling a History of Temple Lodge #9 by an intricate study of one hundred and fifty years of minutes!! He, very kindly, presented the lodge with a copy of his fascinating work. WB Chau has a program involving pins for Vietnam Veterans and I am hoping to have him return to the lodge in the next couple of months to present his program.

Our Senior Deacon, Jim Taormina, continues with the planning for a summer cookout to be held in the town probably in September when the excess heat has passed. We had fifteen June Anniversaries of which 5 were over 50 years and another 6 between 30 and 50 years further emphasizing the high average age of our membership.

Worshipful Brother Mark Bissoon reported that as the “Caroline’s Promise” event approaches we need to be stocking up with boxes of Crayons for the Children. We need a total of 500 boxes of 24 crayons. Donations can be delivered to the Lodge on any Monday evening between 7:00 and 8:30 pm or to Mark’s office.

Two new candidate “suits” were ordered as it had become necessary for degree work and we continue to try to update and improve our “accesories”.

Attendance at the June District Schools at Fredericksburg on the 4th Tuesday of the month was much improved. Our District will be responsible for presenting the Fellow Craft Degree at this years Area Ritual School in Kinsale on September 17th. I encourage all Master Masons to attend these monthly schools which are provided to help us keep our Ritual sharp and accurate!

Anniversaries of those raised in July include:

RW Charles Dereamer   13 Years        WB Joe Pack                   16 Years
Bro Roger Pitts               37 Years        Bro James Satterwhite      5 Years
Bro Steven Walker         13 Years         Bro Arthur Whittaker       48 Years
Bro Ernest Young           23 Years

Congratulations to you all !!

Practices continue to be held on Mondays, if no Degrees are scheduled, at 7pm at the Lodge and we have a group of regular attendees. If you would like to learn a part for a degree, refresh your memory on Lodge opening and closing procedures or re-learn a catechism, please come and join us. We are flexible in what we work on according to the needs and desires of the attendees.

On the Internet, our Facebook page “Friends of Kilwinning Crosse Lodge No. 2-237” is thriving and has an ever increasing number of followers. Check it out!

We are still looking for some volunteers to man the table at the Caroline’s Promise event when it comes around.

Finally, I was just informed of the sad loss of Mrs. Joyce Goforth, widow of the late “Frosty” Goforth, a long term Lodge member. Mrs. Goforth passed yesterday afternoon, July 4th.  Arrangements have not yet been published. Please keep her family in your prayers.

If anyone would like to contribute any items or articles to the trestle board please email them to me and I will try to accommodate.      Fraternally,

     Richard J. Fisher
     Worshipful Master
