Lodge Visits with DDGM
During the month of February, I have committed to visiting many of the lodges in our district to coincide with the official visits of the DDGM. I had initially not made a push to earn fraternal visits on account of scheduling and a desire to spread our visits over the course of the year (which is often more agreeable to our wives than being absent for several nights each week in February), but it turns out many Kilwinning Crosse brethren have made similar commitments to visit Hudson Morris tonight and a several other lodges throughout the month.
If several of us are going to be at these lodges, it sure would be convenient for a few more brethren to sign on to one, or several, of the upcoming Stated Meetings so we may make a good showing of it and get to interact with our sister lodges in the district. Here are the lodges I will be present for:
- Tonight, 7:30p – Hudson Morris.
- This Friday, 7:30pm – Fredericksburg. Some of us are meeting at the lodge at 6:30 to carpool.
- Third Thursday – Ashland. I know this conflicts with OES and understand those sensitivities for anyone unable to visit Ashland.
- Fourth Thursday – Frank P Moncure. We will likely meet at the lodge at 6:30.
Though I do not expect to visit Daylight lodge this month, I encourage any brethren available to pay them a visit on the fourth Wednesday at 10am. I am told it is a very enjoyable meeting and look forward to taking off work sometime this month to pay them a visit. If any other brother would like to pay this lodge a visit together, let me know and we will coordinate what month works best for our schedules.
Brethren, let me be clear that I view visitation along side the District Deputy as a matter of respect for the DDGM. I believe it is an admirable thing to have such zeal throughout the lodge that we can record ‘Fraternal Visits’, but that is not my objective at this time of the year. Concerning fraternal visits, I wish to coordinate with our brethren and the masters of the lodges in District 8 to settle on our dates. That way, perhaps we may be able to bring some additional tidings of friendship and encouragement not only in the month of February, but throughout the year.
